The Quota Movement of 2024 saw the strong involvement of the Hafezzi Charitable Society of Bangladesh (HCSB), led by its director Muhammad Raj. This student protest started after a court decision supporting the quota system. Protests quickly spread across important areas of Dhaka. As the need for help grew, HCSB stepped in to support the students. They provided water, syrup bottles, and dry food to keep the students hydrated and fed. HCSB worked with the SAARC Human Rights Foundation to deliver this aid.
As the Quota Movement became more intense, violence started. A key leader, Abu Sayed, was sadly shot and killed. Even in these dangerous times, Muhammad Raj and his team didn’t stop helping. HCSB kept giving food, water, and medical services to those who were hurt. They worked hard to take injured students to hospitals, making sure they got the care they needed.
Under the leadership of Muhammad Raj, HCSB also gave money to those hurt during the movement. People received between 5,000 and 10,000 taka to help with their recovery. When the government declared a curfew, closing down internet, transport, and shops, it became even harder to help. But HCSB gathered volunteers like doctors, teachers, and engineers at their office in Muhammadpur to make plans to help the protesting students during this tough time.
Even though the situation became more dangerous, HCSB stayed committed to helping. Every day, they provided food, water, and medical supplies to those in need. Despite the risks, they took the injured to hospitals and saw the serious injuries up close. Their dedication during this time gave hope to many.
As the Quota Movement finally calmed down, peace returned to the country. Even after the protests ended, HCSB kept working. They continued to help the injured students and provided meals to those managing traffic during the protests. Their hard work brought relief and support to many who were affected.
In summary, HCSB’s support during the Quota Movement, shows their strong commitment to helping people in times of need. Their quick action, financial support, and continued help made a big difference during the movement, showing how important HCSB is during times of crisis.
